Earning much and working 12hours a day 6x a week as a single woman was very exciting. You work for yourself and also you work to help your parents in paying some utilities for years. You can buy all you want from bags, clothes, shoes , make-ups, etc. You can spend your money in a salon , spa , travel and many more. But when your routine is repeating and you notice you don't even save money for your future and you realize that you're getting old and should settle. Then you get married, the transition was so fast after 2-3 months, got pregnant then gave birth. Being a mother was a very wonderful part of a woman's life but being a working mommy was the hardest part.
Back to work, mommy..
After long bonding with your newborn, maternity leave was about to end. You struggle leaving your baby to your mother or mother in law or to a nanny. Separation anxiety attacks when you're at work and thinking if your baby is okay even if you leave him/her to the most trusted person you ever had. You leave early in the morning for work she/he still sleeping and go back night that sometimes she/he still sleeping again. Then when you are about to rest she/he will cry and cry until 3:00AM.After crying all night long she/he will sleep and at 5:00AM in the morning you will prepare again for work and that was your daily routine. It is very hard to back in the work mommy but that's for your baby needs even if you have a husband to provide. Some of our moms suffer postpartum depression while undergoing this transition but with the help of your partner, a family member and of course our Lord you can cope all of your problems.
Choosing your priority
It takes a lot of effort becoming a working mom. Sometimes your work itself suffers especially if your child is sick you have to file for a leave to take good care of her/him. Some of your workmates didn't understand your situation especially single ladies , single gentlemen worst even some married men and women didn't understand you. Then after two years of being a working mom pandemic came. COVID-19 gives a lot of impact to people all over the world. You cannot go outside so you have to choose your priority. Some companies offer work from home set-up but you will provide your own laptop and internet connection, some also offer alternate days of going to work. Working while taking care of your baby was a big transition again. Then after two and half months back to office work again. All people adjust to the new normal set-up but some companies suffer and offer retrenchment or downsizing or what we call redundancy to some employees. Company has a good offer so as a working mommy I grab the opportunity but the decision was not just easy like that. You should consider all aspects and ask your partner, luckily I have a supportive husband and family.
Corporate to Freelancer
Having a 10years in corporate was not a joke and transferring from an office set-up work to a work from home set-up was so hard. You will provide your own workplace, own laptop, internet connection , a webcam and a headset with noise cancelling function. You will ready and build again yourself because it was a big transition.
